Categories on homepage

I am searching in documentation and forum to put the categories tree on homepage, in template 13, but don't works.

I put {BOX_CATEGORIES} code in home.tpl, but the showed is text "{BOX_CATEGORIES}"...

It is not possible to put categories on the home page automatically. You can only add them manually as html code.

you may create you own piece of php which just list them.
Or copy code from one of the templates which shows categories on its home page.
