Side BOX smaller

Postby cadlibrary » Tue Apr 05, 2011 2:39 pm

Unfortunately the right content space is to small for showing large advertising banners so i'm trying to make the left side boxes little bit smaller.

I know css and html but in Antons Template i can not locate the element which is giving the left side box the width.

Setting left column in the admin backend is changing the table but has just a effect when all side boxes are removed.

For testing here is the html output of a left side box - but whatever i change (here <td width="50" for testing>) there is no effect on the "box width".

Template 13 - Left column width: 150

<td width="150"><div class="t"><div class="b"><div class="l"><div class="r"><div class="bl"><div class="br"><div class="tl"><div class="tr">
<div class="sheader"><b>Boxtitel</b></div>
<div class="scontent"></div>
</div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div><div><img src="/cad/images/e.gif" width="150" height="1"></div></td>

class t,b,l,r, bl, br, tl, tr = are the gif pix for the border and round corners.
sheader is just text style
scontent is nowhere in antons css file - removing did also not help.

Could somebody change the box width in a template or can tell me which element i am overlooking ? every browers i tested is always rendering the output with original side box size.

Thank you very much.

You have to edit the template:
/templates/template[n]/footer.tpl

But you should understand that the templates won't match screen's width probably if you set a wide right column.

i don't want set a right box wide. I need the left column smaller and the middle one wider. I want a large 728 pix banner just over the content but not in the header and need about 50 pix more wide in the middle td. Or in other words the left td column 50 pix smaller.

in the footer i have just

</td>
<td width="{RIGHT_WIDTH}" style="padding-left:0">{BOX_RIGHT}<div><img src="{SITE_ROOT}images/e.gif" width="{RIGHT_WIDTH}" height="1"></div></td>
</tr>
</table>

The whole table is set to 950 which is just fine, the right colum (footer) is set to 1 which is also ok.

I change left colum from 190 in your template (backend) to something smaller, and expecting the left box to react (left colum all td tags showing the value from the backend) but as soon as i show a box the wide is always 190 pix. So i tought there must be ether a css style or then a graphic with fix wide for the boxes but i can't find it.

You can edit left/right column width here:
Admin panel -> Settings -> Site settings -> Left/Right column width

and here
/templates/template[n]/style.css

.t {background: url(images/m_border.gif) 0 0 repeat-x; width: 20em;background-color:#f5f5f5;margin-bottom:20px}

The problem which confused me is that BOX.tpl is not used for the category box.

I changed (overwrite css) the values or removed the div styles for .t in box.tpl .. this had a result on all boxes but not for the category box.
