Cannot use country-specific characters (æøå) in search

I search for the danish island Samsø, but get no results: http://www.fedefotos.dk/index.php?search=samsø

Æøå does not work, if the word samsø is in the field Category or in the field State:
http://www.fedefotos.dk/stock-photo/hal ... 14882.html

Æøå works fine, if the word is in the field Description.

Can anyone help?

Hi mj!

It seems that this is a problem with the charset. You can try to set the store from the standard charset to the danish charset. But I don't know in which file the charset is defined, sry. But if you like you can take a look by yourself

Now I only have one (small) problem left:

If the word ends with æ, ø or å, then it is not a part of the search result:

www.fedefotos.dk/index.php?search=små (little)
www.fedefotos.dk/index.php?search=vrå (cityname)
www.fedefotos.dk/index.php?search=træ (tree)

Charset by saving iptc text: Unicode (UTF-8)
Yes in checkbox: Use codepage from present language to other conversion between ASCII and Unicode

I upgraded from version 15 to 19, step-by-step.
Before the upgrade, all IPTC-text were fine (they are UTF-8-format, I am almost sure)
New uploads works fine.
But the old 8.000 are broken and looks like: å, ø Ø and so on.

I fixed most of it with Search and Replace:
My webhost (bluehost) > phpMyAdmin > *_store > table photos > Search and Replace Ã¥ with å - and so on > Repeat in Title, Description and Keywords > clear cache with www.fedefotos.dk/members/cron_delete_cache.php > now it works fine.

My problem: Only headlines are still broken - for example www.fedefotos.dk/stock-photo/sandks-strand-25953.html
