category images

I'm would like to add images to display with each Category title.
I browse to a jpg which appears to upload but does not actually display on the front end categories screen.
Any ideas, thanks.

Hi, yes that's what I want to achieve.
If I upload a jpg image on the category edit screen it does not preview on either the category edit screen nor the category front end.
I've placed a screengrab http://www.uglybugimages.com/categories_screengrab.jpg showing what I mean. The circled category title "animalia" shows what I am getting.
Is there a specific size for these category images? Not sure where I am going wrong!

You should edit the file:
/content/.htaccess

and replace:

with:
